| The League of Animal Artists was created for the independent, self-representing, artist who is attempting to start or
expand their art career. We are not the type of society that only accepts artists that are already well established and are able to command
thousands of dollars for their artwork. We are here for the small, possibly even, part-time artist that just wishes to be able to mingle
with other artists similar to themselves and wish to further expose their artwork to the public. |
| Becoming a member of The League of Animal Artists allows you to mingle with some of the best independent, self-representing
animal artists from around the world. We have a community atmosphere and all members are here to assist each other in becoming the best
they can be. We have many venues to enable members to communicate with each other and to display their artwork to the public. Below are
the criteria which we use in accepting members into The League. If you are interested in becoming a member, please read over these criteria
before continuing. |
|
 |
 |
| All membership applications must be approved by League staff members. Only approved applicants will be accepted as official
members. To be accepted into The League of Animal Artists, you must meet the following criteria: |
 |
First, and foremost, league membership is for the individual independent artist, or a collabrative team, and
not for art galleries, brokers, agents or communities/groups. |
 |
Since the League is exclusively for animal artists, you must be able to demonstrate, to the league staff's
satisfaction, that you are an animal artist and not just an artist that creates some art containing animals. This does not mean
that you must exclusively create artwork of animals, only that a majority must be animals and that your promotional efforts of yourself
as an artist and of your artwork demonstrates your focus on animal art. Also, if you have a website, your website must clearly demonstrate
this focus on animals. It must be obvious throughout your site that your main genre is animals. |
| |
If you fail to demonstrate a clear focus on animals in your artwork, you will not be considered for membership. |
 |
You must be able to provide examples of your animal artwork, either by providing links to online images, by
emailing scanned images of your work to our membership committee or by mailing photographs or slides to our headquarters for review. |
| |
If you are unable to provide examples of your animal artwork, you will not be considered for membership. |
 |
You must be able to provide a clear Artist's Statement, demonstrating your commitment to your career as an
animal artist. If you do not have an official "Artist's Statement" or do not know what one is, you must be able describe to
us why you became an artist, why you chose animals as your main focus, what types of mediums you use, what type of animals you specialize
in and why, and what you envision for your future animal art career. |
| |
If you are unable to provide an Artist's Statement, or provide one that does not demonstrate your passion
for animals and your artwork, to the league staff's satisfaction, you will not be considered for membership. This will not be applicable,
however, if you only take the time to provide information about your art career and interest in animals. |
