About Me
My animal paintings are done in pastels, which are pure pigment. Pastel paintings done hundreds of years ago are known to have held their pigmentation best. Pastel is my medium of choice for animals because of the way it can catch layers of fur, glassy eyes, iridescent feathers....
I have painted for approximately 45 years...ever since I first picked up a pencil and saw that a line came out of it! Having always lived with animals in my family, they were naturally favorite subjects.
I love to paint portraits of pets, especially dogs. I work from a selection of five or six photographs that you send me. All photos are returned of course.
I will begin work upon your commissioned piece as soon as I am finished with prior commitments. Depending upon the complexity of the piece, it usually takes approximately one month to complete.
I will be able to email photos of the work in progress to you for your approval. Most paintings will be a 16" x 20" size. They will come to you un-framed, as shipping glass is not recommended. Of course, when they arrive, they will need to be framed under glass immediately, as the painting is pastel and can smudge, even with the fixative applied.
Prices will differ depending upon what is included in the painting. I prefer to focus on the animal and eliminate the background. Basically, a 16' x 20" portrait will start at $250. Adding other animals, backgrounds, body poses, etc., will affect the price.
The buyer will pay all shipping costs. Please email me with any comments or questions: I would love to hear from you. |
