About Me
As a hunting dog breeder and trainer, I felt compelled to freeze that moment in time when the dog is jumping for a retrieve or first gets scent of a bird hiding in the brush. My art work captures that special relationship between the hunter/trainer and his companion. I also enjoy painting wildlife. Since most of my hunting trips are up north, my favorite subjects are bear, moose, elk and wolves.
The mediums I use are watercolor and color pencil but more often a combinations of both. Since my Masters Degree in Business does nothing to help me as an artist, two years ago, I started taking classes at a small art school in Decatur, then classes in colored pencil with Linda Hardy (http://www.lindahardy.com/) and progressed to watercolor painting classes with Jo Taylor, author of Watercolor Wisdom (http://www.jotayloraws.com/sys-tmpl/door/). I have attended portrait work shops and other work shops offered by the Visual Art Society of Texas. I now attend a junior college class to learn the techniques of oil painting.
I am a member of the League of Animal Artist and The Visual Arts Society of Texas (VAST). I entering my first art competition in 2005 at the State Fair of Texas in which "Sip on Point" won a 2nd place ribbon. In 2006, I entered the VAST member art show and "Being Sent" was awarded the Visual Art Society of Texas Merit Award II. Also in 2006, I have placed 2nd on two occasions at the VAST monthly member shows. "My Numero Uno" painting placed 1st at the Texas State Fair in 2006.
