About Me
A native Marylander, Lois grew up learning to appreciate
the natural wonders that the Chesapeake Bay area has to hold.
Throughout her life she has continued to train herself as a
naturalist and environmental educator. In her lectures she is
assisted by several non-releasable birds of prey.
At age twelve her formal art education began and almost
immediately she was painting wildlife. Training continued at
the Maryland School of Art and Design, University of
Maryland and Towson University. It took another decade
before Lois discovered watercolors, pen & ink and pencil. Over
the years they have been her mediums of choice. Lois' portrait style
for wildlife subjects and pet portraits has gained her a loyal following.
As a former wildlife rehabilitator Lois has had a lot of
"hands-on" experience with her subjects. Their response to her
natural rapport with them has helped her gain a better
understanding of animals. Her love and respect for animals
and the environment is evident in both her artwork and teaching. |
