Lauri was born in 1960 in South Dakota. She and her husband and son moved to Wyoming in 1985. They built a log home and settled in, and having had another son, she had her hands full.

She has always been artistic, and having given her friends and family artwork for years, she finally found time to make and sell greeting cards. Then painting murals, and now illustrating books.
